Bohol Adventure

I’ve been so busy with vacation and some sideline jobs these days that writing in my blog did not seem like an appealing activity. Of course, I was mentally writing what I was supposed to write about our trip to Bohol but all of those are lost in my murky brain now ๐Ÿ˜€

So, let me just pick the highlights of our Bohol trip.

Bobby and I, adventurous as we want to think we are, went to Bohol with no clear itinerary except seeing the sights and going to Panglao. With bags packed with a map, swim gear, an underwater camera bag, and day clothes, we caught the earliest fastcraft trip to Tagbilaran. We had previously decided not to join a touring group so we plotted our trip on the boat. The idea was to go to the farthest place we can think of, then work our way back to the city – take note that we did not even reserve a hotel or resort room as we wanted to sleep nearest to where we’d end up in the night.

With that in mind, we went straight to the Chocolate Hills Complex in Carmen which is only about 5 minutes away from where Bobby’s buddy is currently working. Because we didn’t plan for the transportation, we were left at the mercy of the vehicles for hire at the terminal. After an hour of waiting for other passengers to arrive, the van set off for Carmen with only about 5 passengers inside – it is a good thing that they don’t wait until the van is full or else we could have waited for 3 to 4 hours! Well, so much for mild ranting – we are here for a happy vacation ๐Ÿ™‚

A Domesticated Summer Day

ironingI haven’t realized how busy I am with work and with enjoying summer until my hubby proudly told me last night, when I got home from work, that he ironed some of our clothes! A lot of you may say that it is nothing new but just think that my hubby is a military man ๐Ÿ˜€ Just imagining that he was bent on ironing some of the clothes – including the ones I use in the office – made me feel proud of him and thankful that he was thoughtful enough to do so. Oh, many may lambast me for being a carefree wife, that I should iron our clothes and all ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t really care. I am just feeling lucky that my husband is thoughtful enough to do that for me ๐Ÿ™‚ And no, he was not mad at me for not ironing ๐Ÿ˜€ he was plain proud that he was able to iron without being told – sounds like a child, yes? Well,lucky me, either way.

Well, since I have no assignments today and work is still at 2 PM, I decided to iron what was left of the ones that he didn’t iron. No, not a guilty person’s way of doing things ๐Ÿ˜€ but just being wifey after the thoughtful display from my hubby ๐Ÿ™‚

The room just had to be cleaned first, the kitchen followed, then the clothes. Whew! What a day, what a summer day, what a domesticated summer day. ๐Ÿ˜€

Summer Fun: Dolphin Watching and Swimming at the Sand Bar

The down partโ€ฆ

A month of pre-booking allowed us to obtain two boats for the excursion. I did have some misgivings about the trip when the date drew near as those who were invited to join us backed out at the last minute! Spoilers. My only thought was that those were the people who invited themselves to join the trip โ€“ it was originally just the old San Diego team minus Kuya Beep plus Agnes and Doms. Then people wanted to join, and they wanted the other team to join, and so many people were added that we had to say no to those who were interested to join. We got two boats with a 10-person capacity. Then, the day before the trip, a lot of them couldnโ€™t make it due to some reasons โ€“ and we were stuck with 2 boats for 20 people and there were only 8 of us!

Because we already booked the 2 boats, we looked for other people who might still be willing to join at such a short notice. I hate this part โ€“ because I donโ€™t like to approach those people who were interested before because we had already told them that they canโ€™t join! {sigh} I should have listened to my instincts and invited only my friends ๐Ÿ˜€ at least, we could have booked just 1 boat and have to pay less. Thankfully, Maโ€™am Sheng agreed to come with her 3 kids! Then Gracie asked a friend to join. I also asked my cousin to join. Weโ€™re still 5 people shy of the 20 but at least we didnโ€™t have to pay for two boats when we could fit into 1 boat only. Well, as Jeffy said, now we know who to invite the next time we go out.

The up partโ€ฆ

So much for that rantโ€ฆLetโ€™s go to the trip and forget the spoilers โ€“ we wonโ€™t be inviting them next time, anyway.

We arrived at the port at 7 am. I was a bit disappointed that the boats were smaller than what we had been using the past years when we went dolphin watching. But I vowed that the next time I organize the same โ€œla-agโ€, Iโ€™ll make sure that the boats are really from the Tourism Office!

Maโ€™am Sheng and her kids โ€“ her real kids plus Agnes, Tet, Lems, Doms โ€“ were on one boat while me, Jaymez, Jeffy, Adonis, Gracie, Evelyn (gracieโ€™s friend), and Sandy (my cousin) were on another boat.

We had a picture war with Tet as she does not like her picture to be taken. In the end, I succeeded in taking a picture without her covering her face ๐Ÿ˜€

The dolphins were not so plenty today but some played around the boat. Children that we are, we shrieked and shouted and clapped when the dolphins surfaced but were too busy cheering to realize that we were not able to take pictures! It was only when we were on the way to Sand Bar that we realized that we were not able to take pictures {sigh}.

The others were not able to see the sand bar as a sand-filled area because the low tide was scheduled in the evening; however, it was alright with them because we were all able to swim in waters that were not so shallow but were not deep. Those of us who knew how to swim went to the dark blue waters were the waters were deep and cooler than those on top of the sand bar.

We went home at 3 pm โ€“ a lot of us already turning chocolate brown ๐Ÿ˜€

The trip home was not like the loud one we had earlier. This time, most of them were sleeping that I couldnโ€™t resist taking pictures of them, too โ€“ makes a good โ€œbeforeโ€ and โ€œafterโ€ picture scene.

This is summer! I love itโ€ฆ

New Beginnings

~~~~~
I can’t help but slash out one of the reasons why I hate my job. You see, The Company has decided to lower the speed standard so that we’d get more bonuses and have better output (or so they say). They had not yet explained why they are now requiring us a 20 pages per hour instead of the 23 – well, I am NOT going to complain about that because I am happy about that. ๐Ÿ˜€ Will I still quit at the end of the year? Yup – unless they place us on a shift that does not involve waking up so early teeehhee what I am saying is that if only the job was a 7 to 3 thing, I wouldn’t feel so harassed waking up and going to work while every person at home was still asleep ๐Ÿ™‚ I wouldn’t mind staying up late for the corresponding 3 to 11 shift ๐Ÿ˜€ But if it’s still going to be a 6-2 and 2-10 thing, then, I’m off by the end of the year ๐Ÿ˜€
~~~~~

Tomorrow, I will officially start the summer with the promised Dolphin/Whale watching trip with some friends from work. Then, we’ll go to the Sand Bar. Hypocrite that I am for blasting about waking up at such an unholy hour of 5 AM, tomorrow I have to wake up at 4AM! My reasons for not being mad at that are 1) it’s just once and 2) the activity will be fun and will, thus, be worth waking up early for. ๐Ÿ˜€

It is raining right now but with the kind of rain-sun-rain-sun-rain-sun days that we had last week, I’m pretty sure that tomorrow is going to be sunny. ๐Ÿ˜€

To Officially Kick-Off Summer

It’s March – oh, end of March. If this month sets the theme for summer, then, we are in for a long, hot, and lovely one ๐Ÿ˜€ Brace yourselves, don your swimsuits, and let’s have fun!

I LOVE summers! For a person who’d grown up with chocolate-colored skin, I am supposed to hate summer because it makes my chocolate skin darker – but like Jaymez fondly says, “Don’t care!” ๐Ÿ˜€ Summer appeals a lot to me because I was brought up in a family who loves to go to the beach every opportunity we could. My earliest memories of the beach were the summers when my father would bring us all to Silliman Beach in the morning, leave us siblings and our mother for work, come back with fish which we roast for lunch, get back to work, then collects us at 4 PM. All summer we would be dark chocolates but we LOVE it. Well, I miss those summer days.

Also, back when I was still in college, Bobby, me, and our friends would spend summers at the beach so that we had pictures of us so very dark that we perfectly match the dark bamboo sala set at their house ๐Ÿ˜€

And since I have never cared about how people see me, I indulge myself with summer and don’t care about making my chocolate skin darker.

So, what’s in for summer this year? To kick-off summer, I had a hair cut teeeehhheeeeheeee I’m now sporting a semi-short hair, courtesy of the beautiful salon near Hypermart called Marquez Beauty Salon or something similar ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m not good with names. Anyway, the hair cut actually came after a double outing with my co-workers and my girl cousins.

Okay, to sort that out, the outing with the co-workers came first. This is a long overdue victory party for our team – the Green Geeks – who were the Champions of last year’s sportsfest. It was sad that my friends were also busy with other activities for Sunday – church and family just had to go first, of course. Plus, the activity was sort-of announced just this week so that we didn’t have much time to re-arrange our Sunday schedules – which is the only day that we are free from The Company {sigh}. Lots of nice people are there, of course. Jeffy – aka Alvin # 2 – was there, too. And since he (partially) took over Alvin’s usual place in the barkada, then the party was alright ๐Ÿ˜€ However, there really was nothing to do except talk and eat. So, when my cousins called to inform me that they were at JVD, I had no second thoughts to leaving the outing ๐Ÿ˜€ I think they must have rented a videoke machine after I left but I’m not sure.

Anyway, I hurried to where my cousins were hanging out – and it turned out to be an all-girls day out. Wow, we had not done this in ages – just me, Sandy, Inday, PitPit, Darly, Divine, Mary Ann, baby Stefi, and the yaya (sorry, I always forget her name). It was still all talk and eat but the food was more delicious ๐Ÿ˜€ no lechon here but we had salad, humba, tuyok manok, and lots of chips. mmmmmm delicious. We talked and talked and talked and talked until it was already very late in the afternoon and Bobby was already reminding me that I did not go to church uh-oh. Anyway, I was already very late for church, so, once again, I skipped on church.

After that girls’ bonding, I idly went to town in search of a salon to have my nails cleaned. I remembered seeing a new salon setting up near Hypermart some days ago so I went to investigate. Wow, the prices are really, really low! Php49 each for manicure, pedicure, and haircut. They also have neat little packages that would appeal to every girl’s budget. I just had to get their package of manicure, pedicure, foot spa, hair spa, haircut, and back massage all for Php350! Cool.

That’s how I started my summer. Now, what about my plans for the summer?

  • April 5 ~ me and my friends at work are going Dolphin watching plus swimming at the Sand Bar weeehhee! Hope the weather will be absolutely perfect.
  • April 8 or 9 ~ me and my girl cousins are planning an overnight retreat at the Forest Camp or somewhere cool enough to match the weather.
  • April 26 ~ lunch party at our house to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary ๐Ÿ˜€ all friends are welcome to the party.
  • April 27 to some time that week ~ Bobby and I are going somewhere – tentative venues are Boracay, Bohol, Dakak… can someone suggest a good place to go? ๐Ÿ˜€
  • May 16 ~ spend my cousin’s birthday at Cebu and experience the sky walk chuva there – don’t know what it’s called ๐Ÿ˜€

Plus, we are going to kulit Jeffy into treating us with tuba and butong at their house in San Jose one of these Sundays ๐Ÿ˜€ And Mommy Len, too, for a trip to Bacolod – maybe at the end of May.

Wow, summer’s already getting more and more appealing. So, can someone please give me a job with two days of weekends instead of one? So I could savor the flavors of summer? ๐Ÿ˜€
